Services

Shenandoah Veterinary Clinic is a full service companion animal practice.  We stress the importance of the annual physical examination along with preventive care and screening diagnostics to help detect, diagnose, monitor, and treat the many health issues your pet will face as it ages. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions as healthy as possible:

Annual Physicals:
Please see "Our Health Packages" for information on our Preventive Health Pachages and pricing.  As stated above we recommend at least one check-up per year for every animal.  This will include at a minimum a physical exam, fecal floatation, and blood parasites exam for dogs, and a physical exam and dewormer for cats.  Our vaccination protocols are tailored to the needs of the animal based on their invidual exposure risk as well as age.  Additional diagnostics, ranging from a simple skin or ear cytology all the way up to a chemistry panel or ultrasound, are recommended based on the physical exam.

Laboratory Services:  Our in-house lab is fully equiped to run in-house blood chemistries, acid/base/electrolyte monitoring, complete blood counts, thyroid testing and monitoring, coagulation testing and monitoring, liver & kidney function monitoring, blood and intestinal parasite screening/monitoring, fungal cultures, cytologies and many more. For those lab tests that cannot be done in-house we use TVMDL here in College Station. We also use Heska as our outside lab for allergy testing. Most of our hospitalized animals are kept in the hospitalization kennels in this same area so we can keep a constant watch on their progress.

Surgical Services:  We are equiped and have experience performing numerous surgeries including common proceedures like spays, neuters and declaws to less common, more difficult proceedures like fracture repair, ACL stabilization, complicated tumor removal and intestinal surgeries.  We also work with TAMU CVM Soft Tissue and Orthopedic Surgery services for referral surgical cases.

Anesthesia:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients.  Our anesthetic protocols tailored to the individual animal and its clinical presentation and needs. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs (respiratory monitoring, blood gas, pulse rate, ECG, blood pressure) are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.

Radiology Services:  Our on-site, digital X-ray equipment provides fast, high quality diagnostic radiographs.  These films can be easily shared with veterinary radiologists and surgeons for consultation and referral purposes as well.

Ultrasound:  Two ultrsound services are offered in our clinic.  Our in house ultrasound is used for emergency situations to help guide further diagnostic work-up. Dr. Shull is a veterinarian with a mobile ultrasound specialty practice.  For more advance diagnostic ultrasounds and echocardiograms we utilize her expertise.

Dentistry:  Dental services include complete oral exam under anesthesia, teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.

Permanent identification: We recommend and offer microchips as a permanent form of identification.  The chip number is registerd with 24-Hour-Pet-Watch and the county.  This is not the same as the yearly county tag/license.

Pharmacy:  We maintain an extensive inventory of pharmaceuticals, supplements, shampoos, flea and tick control products, heartworm preventatives, and prescription diets in the hospital.  An even wider selection is available on our online pharmacy, the link for which can be found on the left hand side of the page.  Products ordered on-line are shipped directly to your house. We make every effort possible to keep our prices competative with other on-line phramacy prices.  For prescription refill requests please also use the "Forms" link on the left hand side of the page.

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
