McCrae Rider

Veterinarian

Dr. McCrae Rider was born and raised in the small town of Burlington, Colorado. His interests in animals goes back to working on the family ranch since his childhood. His decision to become a veterinarian didn’t come until he was in high school and had trouble finding veterinary care to help him with his growing cattle herd. Growing up he helped his family with their cow calf operation, as well as starting and running both a swine operation and cow calf operation of his own. In high school he joined the FFA and through that his interest in the livestock industry and veterinary medicine increased. He was accepted to West Texas A&M University where he studied animal science and competed in collegiate rodeo. In 2020 he was accepted into Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. Throughout veterinary school he took interest in many parts of veterinary medicine one of which includes small animal surgery.

Outside of work, he stays busy helping his wife, Evie, and playing with the family dog, an Australian Cattle Dog named Oakley. His wife is currently attending Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and is planning on graduating as a veterinarian in 2026. Other hobbies of his include hiking with his family, and leatherwork. McCrae looks forward to joining Shenandoah Veterinary Clinic and getting to know the clients and their pets!
